What is a biofuel ?

A biofuel is a fuel that is produced through contemporary biological processes, such as agriculture and anaerobic digestion. Biofuels can be derived directly from plants (i.e. energy crops), or indirectly from agricultural, commercial, domestic, and/or industrial wastes. Wood pellets and other biofuels are regarded as renewable energy sources.
Biomass pellets are made from various raw materials like sawdust, wood shaving, wood chips, alfalfa, straw, peanut shell, bagasse, bamboo, grass, rice husk, waste paper, etc. Fuel pellets are an environmentally friendly and economical type of fuel. This type of fuel is characterized by high energy concentration, low ash content and minimal emission of carbon dioxide during combustion. Consistent fuel quality makes pellets a suitable fuel type for all areas of application, from stoves and central heating systems up to large-scale plants.

Advantages of Biofuels:

1- Energy Saving

2- Lower operating costs than electricity and oil

3- Pellet stove is a good alternative to electric heating

4- Renewable fuel

5- Causes low emissions of environmentally harmful substances
